The Games, held every four years, will include over 30 different sports in this year. Sanda, Wushu is the one of the sports in the National Games and its preliminary contest will be held first time in Hong Kong at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium from 18 to 23 April 2001. A total of 400 athletes from 38 provinces, municipalities and organisations will come to Hong Kong for this preliminary Sanda contest and will vie for 132 places in the Sanda finals to be held in Guangdong in August 2001.     Sanda is an application of the attack and defence techniques, employing punching, kicking, grappling and locks.
